State of Georgia Transportation Specialist 3 - Transportation Management Center (TMC) - Traffic Ops (PG K) in Fulton, Georgia
Job Summary: Under broad supervision, provides advanced level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, operations, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. May also serve as a lead worker providing training to lower level staff.
Job Specific Duties: Under general supervision, manages the collection, processing, and reporting of transportation related data including systems inventory (road characteristics) and Geographic Positioning System data (mile point) or traffic crash data.
The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications
STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field AND One year of related experience
OR Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience
OR One year of experience required at the lower level Transportation Specialist 2 (TRP051) or position equivalent.
AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated professional level experience coordinating the installation, user assistance, and documentation of software programs.
Demonstrated experience in Project management.
Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Project, Word, Access, and Power Point.
Demonstrated experience assigning and monitoring work.
Demonstrated experience making sound decisions and leading a team.
Demonstrated ability to complete projects by using appropriate resources with little or no supervision
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong problem solving ability
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and apply new knowledge and skills to work to improve efficiency
Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with staff, managers, and other business contacts in a professional, cooperative manner

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Supervisory or project leadership experience in data collection, reporting, analysis, or research
Possesses managerial experience
Demonstrates knowledge of information systems, specifically in the data collection of database information
Demonstrated experience developing budgets for hardware, software, and overall program needs
Demonstrated experience in assuring the quality of data collected
Demonstrated experience in the transportation field
Demonstrates understanding of the basic principles of transportation data collection
Familiarity with GIS software.
Demonstrated ability to query databases and create technical reports.
Demonstrated ability to develop new insights into situations and/or ability to recognize opportunities to help the organization accomplish its objectives.
Demonstrated experience utilizing database technologies
AGENCY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated professional level experience using MS Outlook and Excel
Demonstrated experience using Google Earth and Google Maps
Demonstrated experience Using GIS software
Demonstrated ability to learn and understand government reporting forms; in particular the states motor vehicle crash report.
Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and query personal databases
Demonstrated ability to perform and develop QA/QC measures on large data sets.
