The position will require one to serve as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering technology, e.g., maintenance and installations of electronic aviation related systems. Complexity of assignments typically requires considerable creativity and judgment to devise approaches to accomplish work, resolve design and operational problems, and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable. Supervisor will provide advice on unusual or controversial problems; completed work is reviewed for compliance with overall project objectives. May supervise or train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Will have frequent contact with professionals and others within Parsons and the FAA client’s project/construction management staff. Provide onsite resident engineering oversite of construction/installation activities of various complex equipment or systems. Plans approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques; resolves design problems with contract personnel, and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system.
Position is for an Engineering Technician IV, on a casual basis, to provide construction support for the Parsons/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) T4 Program throughout the Southern Region, based out of Atlanta, GA. Will be used primarily as a resident engineering for construction/installation support and elements of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) equipment used for navigational aids in the National Airspace System (NAS), under the guidance of a Field Operations Manager and working closely with senior level Parsons and FAA engineers and technicians on assigned projects.
20+ years of related work experience in construction/ installation / modernization field.
100% travel will be required to project sites for completion of tasks.
FAA and NavAids experience is preferred.
Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by federal authorities will be performed.
T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons in August 2012. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
