Position is for a Drafter III, on a full time basis, to provide drafting support primarily to the Parsons/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) T4 Program in the Southern Region, based out of Atlanta, GA. The drafter will work at a workstation located within the FAA Southern Region office in College Park, GA. Position will be supervised by Parsons T4 drafting supervisor, who is located in the FAA Southern Region office.
General requirements: This operator works closely with design originators, preparing drawings or computer models of complex, or original designs that include multiple view, and detail drawings, require considerable drafting skill to visualize and portray. The operator works from sketches, computer models and verbal information supplied by an architect, engineer or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments. This operator selects required information from computer programs, manufacturers' catalogs and technical guides. Supervisor or design originator may suggest methods of approach or provide advice on unusually difficult problems. This worker may occasionally interpret general designs prepared by others to complete minor details, may provide advice and guidance to lower level drafters or serve as coordinator and planner for large and complex drafting projects.
Specific duties are:
Understands reference/model file concept for preparation of facility construction drawing package.
Able to manipulate multiple reference/model files to prepare specific discipline plan drawing and section/details.
Able to work independently, with a minimum or no supervision from the engineer.
Able to interpret and incorporate client’s CAD standards. Proficient with MicroStation.
Checks the validity of drawing contents prior to adding to the inventory.
Ensures the proper filing of drawings. Provides copies of drawings upon request.
Reformats drawings for electronic archiving. Accepts incoming drawing packages from T4 Southern Region Drafting Supervisor.
Scans hardcopies to PDF to preserve the signatures. Uploads scanned files into ProjectWise software.
Matches PDF files to their corresponding file.
When no hardcopies are provided, creates PDF files from stored folder when directed the project is complete.
Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
Responsible for maintaining files in the Southern Region databases.
High school diploma is required.
Must be computer savvy and a fast learner.
8 plus years of Computer Aided Drafting experience, knowledge of ProjectWise (a suite of software aimed at helping "manage, find, and share CAD and geospatial content, project data, and Office documents), and Microstation (a CAD software product for 2- and 3-dimensional design and drafting) are required.
Good oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, are prerequisites.
Must be trustworthy and competent.
Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons inAugust 2012. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes avariety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP)modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction,environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD,and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nationin each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center inOklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jerseyand in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staffover 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors whoperform construction work.
