Position Description:

  • Demonstrates knowledge, skills and performs the duties of Medical Technologist II.

  • Responsible for system standardization within area of responsibility.

  • Responsible for technical and regulatory oversight including CAP checklist, document control of policy and procedures, material management functions, review of quality control records, proficiency testing results to include review and investigation documentation.

  • Responsible for instrument and procedure evaluation and implementation to include workflow and design recommendations.

  • Participates in off-site CAP inspections, hospital committee meetings, external teaching opportunities and professional association presenter.

  • Responsible for staff coaching and educational follow-up for technical deficiencies to include Risk Management incident report documentation.

  • Available for critical staffing needs such as MTP, LOA and call-outs.

  • Provides feedback to supervisors and managers for employee evaluation.

Position Requirements:

  1. All applicants shall meet at least one (1) of the following education/experience requirements:

    a. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution, plus five (5) years experience in a clinical laboratory, OR

    b. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution, plus successful completion of a specialist certification exam (SH‑ASCP, SBB‑ASCP, SM-ASCP, SC-ASCP, SI-ASCP or DLM‑ASCP) with a total of five (5) years experience in a clinical laboratory, OR.

    c. Master's degree in administration, management, medical technology, chemical, physical, or biological science, plus four (4) years experience in a clinical laboratory, OR

    d. 5 years or more total years of experience in a clinical laboratory, with 1 year being current at Northside Hospital Inc. in a MTII position.

  2. Have state recognized certification as a Medical Technologist.3. Applicants must demonstrate skills as described in the promotion path guidelines.4. Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.5. Color vision acuity is required to safely perform the duties of this position.6. All applicants must submit to and pass a Color-Acuity screening Test.PREFERRED:1. Computer keyboard and information system experience.2. Patient specimen collection experience and patient relations training.
