Position Summary Oldcastle Architectural is looking for a Lead Java Engineer/Architect to join our application development team. Our application development team focuses on delivering business solutions using a broad range of technologies serving application development and business intelligence needs. As a Lead Java Engineer, you will be hands-on in all facets of the SDLC from solution architecture to implementation to production support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Work closely with Enterprise Architecture to develop optimal software/system architecture Bridge the gap between high-level architecture developed with Enterprise Architecture and the detailed solutions design input needed the application development team Responsible for leading Java and back-end development Participate in the entire application lifecycle while focusing on application architecture, implementation and delivery Troubleshoot and debug applications Write unit tests to ensure quality and optimize performance Manage technology selection to improve legacy applications Gather and address technical and design requirements Provide training and support to application development team members Train, mentor and junior developers Utilize best practice testing methodologies and tools to improve overall software quality and efficiency Required Skills Bachelors degree or equivalent, computer science, or related field Excellent written and verbal communication skills 7 years of experience with OOP concepts and design patterns 7 years of experience delivering business solutions using front-end and back-end Java technologies 5 years of experience with JDBC using complex SQL to vendor databases 3 years of experience with Spring frameworks such as Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud 3 years of experience developing REST-based applications 2 years of Tomcat administration and deployment 2 years of SPA experience using HTML5, CSS/SASS, Angular or equivalent Keen attention to detail with an exceptional ability to identify and remediate solution risks Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks while maintaining control of solution delivery Preferred Skills Understanding of microservices and the Twelve-Factor app Experience with messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ and Kafka Experience with responsive web design Experience with CI/CD Experience integrating with ERP systems Experience with Agile tools such as JIRA What Oldcastle Offers You A culture that values opportunity for growth, development, and internal promotion Highly competitive base pay Comprehensive medical, dental and disability benefits programs Group retirement savings program Health and wellness programs About Oldcastle Oldcastle has a long and proud heritage as one of North Americas largest corporations.
