Food Drives & Events Specialist

Purposes, Responsibilities and Duties

  • To oversee the Food Bank’s food drives

  • To run major food drive events such as but not limited to Operation Isaiah, Stamp Out Hunger and Drive Away Hunger

  • To maintain a high level of service for all food drive partners

  • To ensure excellent customer service to all partners and donors

  • To track and maintain donation barrel inventory and maintenance

  • To monitor and track all poundage and monetary donations from food drives

  • To collect appropriate food industry information and maintain an awareness of best practices in food banking

  • To monitor donor information and leads on potential food drives

  1. To cultivate and grow ACFB’s food drives
  • To cultivate and steward current large food drive and donor relationships

  • To build a robust stewardship and recognition program

  • To collaborate with other food banks to maximize poundage goals

  1. To collaborate with the Senior Manager of Corporate Relations on strategies to reach annual product poundage

    and monetary goals.

  • To set and be accountable for poundage and monetary goals each fiscal year in conjunction with leadership from development and food sourcing

  • To develop new food and fund drive strategies

  • To assess current processes to confirm efficiency and best practices around food drive model

  • To enter and monitor donor activity in Raiser’s Edge and Macola

  • To lead the organization on large scale food drives

  • To build policies and procedures around the shift in operations and logistics with food drive pick-ups, drop offs, and walk-ins

  1. To engage with development staff, volunteers and other departments on food drive opportunities

a. To utilize and own the Luminate software in implementing Food and Fund drives

b. To lead volunteers and other staff during major food drives

c. To coordinate with events team on promotional food drives

d. To actively seek food drive opportunities through collaboration with the development and food sourcing staff

e. Other duties as assigned

The primary purpose of the Food Drive and Events Specialist is to oversee all food drives and food related events in the Atlanta Community Food Bank’s 29 county service area. The Food Drive and Events Specialist will collaborate with the Senior Manager of Corporate and Foundation Relations on strategies to reach annual product poundage and monetary goals. The Food Drive and Events Specialist will report to the Senior Manager of Corporate Relations.



  • Education

  • College degree or equivalent

  • Required qualifications

  • Minimum of (4) years of customer service, non-profit or related experience

  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people

  • Ability to negotiate with internal and external customers

  • High level of professionalism

  • Good driving record

  • Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in Raiser's Edge or comparable software preferred

  • Experience in Luminate software

  • Detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks concurrently with minimal supervision

  • Must have good follow-up skills and the ability to respond to customers in a timely manner

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Google Platforms

  • Experience with work in a fast-paced environment

Physical Demands

This position works in a typical office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physical position or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 50 pounds. Local travel is required.
