The Float Pool RN is a professional registered nurse responsible for the nursing care of a defined patient population. Care is provided through the use of the nursing process and in a manner that is cost effective while maintaining quality of care and optimal patient outcomes. The SN/SSN performs assessments, planning, and implementation of nursing interventions and evaluates the effectiveness of care. The SN/SSN participates in unit based and organizational quality improvement initiatives, meets continuing education requirements, participates in student/new employee orientations/teaching activities, upholds Patient Care Services philosophy and objectives, demonstrates professional growth and development through involvement in professional organizations, review of professional literature and participation in continuing education programs.

Position Requirements

BSN or advanced nursing degree. Current Registered Nurse License (Georgia). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Organization and communication skills, must effectively speak, read and write English.

5+ years of experience to qualify for Senior Staff Nurse *Specialty areas may require additional certifications pertinent to work with their patient populations.

Preferred Requirements

Experience in a like-setting (academic medical center); area specific advanced certification
