097-Veterinary Teaching Hospital Job Summary: 1. Clean stalls - Must be scrubbed, disinfected & washed as needed. This will require the use of disinfectants & detergents along with steam cleaners. 2. Clean hallways - Vacuum, sweep, and clean treatment rooms & hallways. 3. Feed & water hospitalized animals as directed. 4. Operate forklift - Move animals, bedding, manure, feed, etc. 5. Truck driver - Transport feed & bedding from the farm to the hospital. 6. Maintain cleanliness of equipment, treatment chutes, surgery tables, etc. Minimum Qualifications Completion of the eighth grade; and some experience in caring for small animals; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma Experience in an animal hospital or farm setting Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification required: Completion of the eighth grade; and some experience in caring for small animals; or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies required to successfully perform work Ability to handle large animals, operate equipment, operate forklift. Physical Demands 1. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. 2. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions, ability to deal with problems with concrete variables and draw appropriate/accurate conclusions. 3. May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces. 4. Must be capable of dealing with stressful situations. 5. Must be capable of manual dexterity sufficient to accurately work with small, delicate pieces of equipment or large heavy objects/containers/machinery. 6. Must be capable of wearing all protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles etc. 7. May need to work for long periods of time with arms extended. Work Hours The work week for this position will be Wednesday through Sunday. 8:00 am to 5:00pm Wednesday through Friday and 7:00am to 4:00pm Saturday and Sunday with an hour for lunch.
